The method involves determining a route for a target position based on digital map data of road network traffic and current position of a vehicle. Characteristics for road forkings/road junctions of the road network traffic are provided depending upon driving direction to the road forkings/road junctions. A route is determined depending upon the characteristics. Driving instructions for bending process required at the road forkings/road junctions of the route are determined and output depending on assigned characteristics. The characteristics indicate a measure for a visual recognition of the road forkings/road junctions from the view of a driver. An independent claim is also included for a device for route guidance of a vehicle.
