The component has a detachable protector in a form of a sachet (1) equipped with openings (2) in fixation zones or connection zones. Precuts (5) are formed between the openings and an edge (6) of the sachet to form rupture bonds to facilitate release of the sachet from the fixation zones or the connection zones during pulling the component. The fixation zones comprise receiving holes receiving rivets or screws. The precuts are arranged parallel to one another. The sachet is made of plastic material. An independent claim is also included for a method for protecting an electronic component against electrostatic discharges during its assembly on a structure.
