The device has direct current sources (7) distributed in modules (8) in which the direct current sources are mounted in series. The modules are mounted in parallel with respect to a load (1). The direct current sources are formed of identical unit elements (7f, 7l) e.g. lithium-ion type batteries. A current regulation unit (9) controls a level of current exchanged between the modules and the load, in an independent manner for each module. The regulation unit is provided with reversible converters (10) for increasing the level of voltage delivered by the modules. An independent claim is also included for a method for managing supply of electric current to a load.
