A system for solving transverse wave information in ultrasound medical imaging, the system characterized by comprising: a receiving beamformer (16) operable to output data representing locations in the space according to the acoustic signals received; a processor (18) configured to estimate tissue displacements as a function of the output data, calculate the correlation coefficients for at least one pair of tissue displacements from different locations in space, resolve a propagation time on the basis of the correlation coefficients and produce an image as a function of propagation time, and a display (20) operable to display the image.
