The method involves heating previously hardened long parts (112) of a wire (110) for annealing, where the long parts of the wire are heated by an electrical current that is transmitted to the wire by rollers. The annealed long parts of the wire are compacted to reduce the diameter of the wire, where the long parts of the wire are placed in an enclosure containing a neutral atmosphere during annealing, and ends of the spoke are shaped to provide geometry for fixing to a cycle wheel. An independent claim is also included for a monolithic spoke for a cycle wheel, comprising a central portion.
