The method involves detecting a filling action of liquid i.e. fuel, in a tank (A) i.e. fuel tank, and associating the filling action to information related to horizontality of a vehicle (B) when the filling action is detected. Absence of movement of the vehicle is detected to wait for a predefined duration prior to the detection of the filling action. Fuel levels in the tank at beginning of the filling action and after the filling action are compared to determine a fuel level variation.
