The seat (1) has a backrest (4) and a retractable anti-submarinining device (5). The backrest is coupled to the anti-submarining device through a connecting unit (15) for lowering the anti-submarining device under the seat under the effect of tilting of the backrest to the seat. The anti-submarining device is housed in a compartment or recess (11) of the seat. The anti-submarining device pivots forwardly for freeing space in the seat compartment. The anti-submarining device is provided in the form of a bar or bump.
