The system (10) comprises a source for producing a beam (11) for cutting, a cutting head (12) connected with the source, a temperature sensor (14) such as a thermocouple and a thermal camera for continuously delivering a real time temperature information of the head, and a controlling and alarming device connected with the sensor and the source. The controlling and alarming device is adapted for continuously comparing the temperature information delivered by the sensor with a first threshold temperature. The system (10) comprises a source for producing a beam (11) for cutting, a cutting head (12) connected with the source, a temperature sensor (14) such as a thermocouple and a thermal camera for continuously delivering a real time temperature information of the head, and a controlling and alarming device connected with the sensor and the source. The controlling and alarming device is adapted for: continuously comparing the temperature information delivered by the sensor with a first threshold temperature; deactivating the source when the temperature information delivered by the sensor is higher than the first threshold; continuously comparing a variation of the temperature information delivered by the sensor with a second threshold variation when the temporal variation of the temperature information is positive and with a third threshold variation when the temporal variation of the temperature information is negative; and transmitting a alarming signal to the user when the source is deactivated, when the temporal variation of the temperature information is higher than the second threshold variation and/or when an absolute value of the temporal variation of the temperature information is lower than an absolute value of the third threshold variation. The temperature sensor is integrated with the head. The beam producing source is a laser source, and a gas or plasma source. An independent claim is included for a process for controlling and alarming a cutting system.
