The method involves placing a finishing cover (4) i.e. plastic-coated fabric cover, into a mold, and injecting a layer of flexible plastic material (2) over a flexible foam layer (3) of the cover. Rigid raising elements i.e. relief (11) and rib (12), are formed on the flexible plastic material layer in each of zones to be rigidified, where the zones belong to a piece of equipment i.e. armrest. A rigid support (1) is formed by the rigid raising elements such that an empty space (6) is formed between the flexible plastic material layer and the rigid support. An independent claim is also included for a piece of equipment.
