The device has an automatic control unit i.e. pneumatic jack (9), for actuating control of an external opening (5) of a hatch (1) of a car (2). The hatch is pivoted to a position (A) at a predetermined distance above its opening position (B). The hatch is allowed to free-fall to the opening position. A load (6) having predetermined mass i.e. 60kg, is placed on the hatch by the jack. The load of the hatch is removed, and the hatch is pivoted to its closed position.
