The method involves generating two antagonistic potential energies that simultaneously act on both sides of a tire (2) of a vehicle such that the tire is automatically covered or uncovered by removable anti-skid elements e.g. removable anti-skid roll bar (4) and removable anti-skid pad (7). The energies are generated manually by a tensioning system (17), a cogwheel (23), a hexagonal central opening (25), a handle and a coaxial tube, or automatically and remotely by an electric motor (28), an energy source (29), a transmission unit (30) and a remote control even when the vehicle is in motion. An independent claim is also included for a device for covering or uncovering a tire of a vehicle with removable anti-skid elements.
