PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abutment section breast wall improvement method which expands a narrow expansion gap between an existing bridge and an abutment section to enable portions where deterioration is easily actualized to be checked up and repaired, and also which can reduce the period of a traffic interruption required for construction.;SOLUTION: An abutment section breast wall improvement method includes: a traffic securing step in which a part of a pavement and a tread slab of an existing road are removed, a support block is installed in the removed road, and a temporary lay-across slab is installed between the support block and an abutment section breast wall to secure traffic; an excavation step removing the temporary lay-across slab during traffic interruption and excavating existing breast wall back soil; an existing breast wall removal step breaking down the existing abutment section breast wall; a breast wall installation step installing a new breast wall 20 in the excavated location; a backfill step backfilling the excavated location on the back of the new breast wall 20; an expansion device installation step installing an expansion device 25; and a road surface restoration step after installing a new lay-across slab 26.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
