PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optically active compound that has high helical induction power, and attains a necessary helical pitch length without largely impairing physical properties and optical properties of a liquid crystal composition by addition to the liquid crystal composition.;SOLUTION: The polymerizable optically active imide compound is represented by general formula (I). The compound wherein both X3 and X4 are -CO- in the general formula (I); the compound wherein both ring A2 and ring A3 are each a naphthalene ring; the compound wherein ring A1, A2, A3 and A4 are all benzene rings; the compound wherein both M1 and M2 are each a hydrogen atom; and the compound wherein ring A1 and ring A4 and ring A2 and ring A3 are each the same ring, M1 and M2, X1 and X6, X2 and X5 and X3 and X6 are each the same group and n and m are each the same number, are preferable as the polymerizable optically active imide compound.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
