PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a riding comfort estimating method to assess composite perpendicular and lateral vibrations by using riding comfort filters by appropriately assessing vibrations in express railway cars and bringing the assessment close to the actual feel of their passengers.;SOLUTION: By a riding comfort estimating method to assess composite perpendicular and lateral vibrations by using riding comfort filters, the acceleration of lateral vibration is subjected to lateral filtering on a time axis (Yf) and the acceleration of perpendicular vibration is also subjected to perpendicular filtering on a time axis (Zf); the vector of the filtered lateral acceleration (Yf) and perpendicular filtering (Zf) is calculated on a time axis; and the length of this vector is taken as a synthesized component (YZf), whose effective value is figured out as a ratio to a reference acceleration to calculate the riding comfort level.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
