The method involves retrieving scattering parameters (10a-10d, 11a-11d) for describing electromagnetic wave propagation in transmission paths (9a,9b) between a receiver (7a) of a computer system (1) and a transmitter (8b) of a peripheral device (2) i.e. internal hard disk. The parameters are transmitted to the peripheral device. A high-frequency description of the paths is determined based on the parameters. The parameters of the transmitted are adapted as a function of the high-frequency description of the paths, where the parameters are known to the system and the device. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement comprising a computer system and a peripheral device.
