PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid sample placement mechanism for preventing a liquid sample from being vaporized during a measurement, and eliminating detachment, attachment and cleaning of a V-shaped block prism disposed at a predetermined position within a refractive index measurement apparatus once. PSOLUTION: The liquid sample placement mechanism 30 is used for the refractive index measurement apparatus 1 provided with a control part 40 for detecting an angle of the travel direction of a light after it passes through the liquid sample by using a sensor 20, and calculating a refractive index of the liquid sample. The liquid sample placement mechanism includes the V-shaped block prism 31 and a cell 50 for accommodating the liquid sample. The V-shaped block prism 31 is a translucent rectangular solid formed with a V-shaped groove 31a on the upper surface. The cell 50 has a body 51 including: at least two translucent sidewalls 51a, 51b; and a bottom surface 51e formed in the lower part of the sidewalls 51a, 51b, and a lid 52 attached to or detached from the upper part of the sidewalls 51a, 51b.
