P To provide a method for controlling flow of molten steel in a casting mold, in which a cast slab with a superior surface property is stably manufactured while avoiding contamination of mold powder into the molten steel by quantitatively controlling the manner of an electromagnetic force being formed in an electromagnetic stirring device and thereby more effectively accelerating float of argon bubbles. PSOLUTION: Assuming that X axis is the turning direction of molten steel parallel to the major side of a casting mold, that Y axis is the direction toward the center parallel to the minor side of the casting mold, and that Z axis is the perpendicular downward direction, electromagnetic forces are imparted so that the electromagnetic forces Fx, Fy and Fz in the three axis directions per molten steel volume are in such a range that the average value of Fx is 3,000-12,000 N/mSP3/SP and the localized value of Fy is -2,000-2,000 N/mSP3/SP and the localized value of Fz is -1,000-1,000 N/mSP3/SPrespectively.
