PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cope with even an extremely short-time shift from idling to a high load when attaining the reduction of power consumption in a whole apparatus where a plurality of power supply modules are mounted. PSOLUTION: A highly-available power supply controller for controlling the plurality of power supply modules with batteries monitors the consuming power value of hardware in a computer system. A predetermined threshold is compared with the consuming power value. When the consuming power value exceeds the threshold, an indication is given to the currently operated power supply module to output power also from the battery, and an indication is given to the unoperated power supply module to output power.
