PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cam surface grinding method capable of correctly grinding a cam surface having recessed parts and projecting parts formed on an outer circumferential surface of a cam.;SOLUTION: In a cam C having a cam surface F on an outer circumferential surface, and having recessed parts Fb1-Fb3 and projecting parts Fa1-Fa3 on the cam surface F, a rotary grinding wheel 24 is brought into contact with the cam surface F while being rotated around its center L1 axis of rotation, and the cam surface F is ground. When grinding the cam surface F, the rotary grinding wheel 24 is advanced and retracted in the direction (X-axis direction) across the center axis L1 of rotation of the cam C, and reciprocated in a direction (Y-axis direction) orthogonal to the advancing/retracting direction while the center axis L2 of rotation of the rotary grinding wheel 24 is inclined with respect to the center axis L1 of rotation of the cam C.
