PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress generation of an unnecessary vibration applying force occurring together with generation of a cogging torque. PSOLUTION: The motor 80, which generates auxiliary torque for assisting a steering torque in a motor-driven power steering device, is constituted of a rotor 83 rotatable around a rotary shaft O and of stators 84, 84 placed opposite to the rotor 83 in the rotary shaft O direction. The rotor 83 includes main magnet parts 90 of eight poles, and the main magnet parts 90 include main permanent magnet pieces with their magnetized direction in the rotary shaft 0 direction. A pair of stators 84, 84, which are placed opposite to each other in the rotary shaft O direction and hold the rotor 83 on both sides in the rotary shaft O direction, each includes teeth 84b of nine poles.
