PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method capable of appropriately correcting color slippage even when a color order of toner patterns is reversed.;SOLUTION: The apparatus includes: a detection part 500 detecting toner patterns; a measuring part 510 measuring time from a detected reference to each color toner pattern; a storage part 520 storing measurement values measured for all colors in ascending order; a color order detection part 530 detecting the color order of the toner patterns by specifying one color, judging which order of the measurement values stored in the storage part 520 the measurement values of the other colors measured for the toner patterns excluding the color correspond to, and detecting the order of the specified color; a judgement part 540 judging whether or not the detected color order is the same as a regular color order; a color order correcting part 550 executing a correction of exchanging the order of the measurement values measured based on the regular color order when the color order is different; and a color slippage correcting part 560 calculating a correction amount so as to be each target value.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
