PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of decomposing silicate mineral, which is capable of decomposing asbestos and utilizing the product after decomposition as well. PSOLUTION: The method of decomposing a silicate mineral includes the step of reacting a first mixture including the silicate mineral, boron oxide, and metal and producing a decomposition product from a second mixture including the boride and the metal oxide. Asbestos can be used as the silicate mineral.
