The electro dynamic machine (1) has a rotatable supported shaft (4) and first and second axial main bearings (6, 7), spaced from one another, which facilitate rotation of the shaft (4). In addition, a third bearing (8) is provided which is designed to at least absorb radial forces created by the shaft (4). A dimensioning is provided for a maximum rotational speed of the shaft (4), and this maximum rotation speed is at least at 50% of an initiation rotational speed of a first natural bending vibration of the shaft (4) having just first and second main bearings (6, 7).
