In the present invention, there is disclosed the use of copper complexes in oxidation stage +II and crystalline solvates thereof of the general formula [Cu(qui)(Rinphen)]X as expressed by a structural formula (I), in which the symbol qui represents 2-phenyl-3-hydroxyquinolin-4(1H)-onate anion, the symbol Rin, wherein n = 1to 4, represents a substituent or substituents on 1,10-phenanthroline(phen), in which R1 denotes a substituent being selected from the group consisting of: hydrogen, 4-methyl, 5-methyl, 5-nitro, 5-chloro, and/or if R1 is 5-methyl, then R2 is 6-methyl, if R1 is 4-phenyl, then R2 is 7-phenyl, if R1 is 3-methyl, then R2 is 4-methyl, R3 is 7-methyl and R4 is 8-methyl, as expressed by the corresponding formulae [Cu(qui)(4-methylphen)]X, [Cu(qui)(5-methylphen)]X, [Cu(qui)(5-nitrophen)]X, [Cu(qui)(5-chlorophen)]X, [Cu(qui)(5,6-dimethylphen)]X, [Cu(qui)(4,7-diphenylphen)]X, [Cu(qui)(3,4,7,8-tetramethylphen)]X, and where the X represents a monoanion of an acid being selected from the group consisting of: Fe-, Cle-, Bre-, Ie-, NOi3e-, BFi4e-, BPhi4e-, HCOOe-, CHi3COOe-, ClOi4e-, HSOi4e-, for the preparation of medicaments intended for the treatment of lung carcionoma and/or for the treatment of a malignant melanoma and/or for the treatment of cancer of the cervix and/or carcinoma of the ovary and/or cisplatin-resistant human tumor line of carcinoma of the ovary and/or for the treatment of prostatic carcinoma.
