NEW FORMULATION OF MUCILAGE OF 'LEPIDIUM SATIVUM' FOR ITS APERIENT ACTIVITY

The present invention relates to an isolation of mucilage from seeds ofLepidium Sativum by using microwave process. Carbohydrate was estimated in the extract (mucilage) by HPTLC. The formulation of mucilage was developed as emulsion then it was evaluated by different parameters. Emulsion of mucilage was used as Aperient activity (200 and 400mg/kg, oral) showed significant aperient activity. The effect was comparable with that of standard duphalac emulsion.
