The invention relates to a process for preparing functionalized magnetic nanoparticles used to diagnose cancer cells. According to the invention, the process consists in treating a magnetic fluid containing magnetite nanoparticles stabilized with a double layer of lauric acid in water with chlorinated glucosamine, in the presence of ethyl-(N,N-dimethylamino) propylcarbodiimide and 1-hydroxybenzotriazole, wherefrom there result magnetic nanoparticles functionalized with stable glucose units free of cytotoxicity.
