A method for evaluating the effectiveness of treatment with lovastatin of patients with coronary heart disease with angina pectoris and hypertension comprises the comparison of patients before and after treatment. Before lovastatin treatment in patients at rest, 5 ml of blood is sampled from the cubital vein and the properties of liquid blood are determined by measuring the viscosity of blood on a rotary viscometer at different shear stresses from 0.020 dyn/cmto 8.8 dyn/cm, then after treatment with lovastatin the sampling of 5 ml of blood is carried out from the cubital vein and the similar study is performed. However, if blood viscosity at shear stress of 0.3 dyn/cmdecrease by 7.2% compared to tension before treatment, the hemorheological result and antianginal effects are assessed as positive.
