The packaging foil (1) comprises a single- or multi-layer substrate (2) and an antimicrobial and/or antifungal functional layer (3), which is applied on the substrate and forms the outermost layer of the packaging foil. The functional layer comprises particles (4) as antimicrobial and/or antifungal active agents. The particles are formed as silver metal particles and/or silver oxide particles or silver-containing particles comprise silver metal and/or silver oxide. The packaging foil (1) comprises a single- or multi-layer substrate (2) and an antimicrobial and/or antifungal functional layer (3), which is applied on the substrate and forms the outermost layer of the packaging foil. The functional layer comprises particles (4) as antimicrobial and/or antifungal active agents. The particles are formed as silver metal particles and/or silver oxide particles or silver-containing particles comprise silver metal and/or silver oxide. The particle comprises an inorganic or organic compound doped with antimicrobial and/or antifungal effective substance. The particle comprises a silver-doped organic or inorganic compounds such as silver-doped silicon dioxide, or silver oxide-doped organic or inorganic compounds such as silver oxide-doped silicon dioxide or the silver-containing particles contain silver-doped organic or inorganic compounds such as silver-doped silicon dioxide and/or silver oxide-doped organic or inorganic compounds such as silver oxide-doped silicon dioxide. The functional layer is sealable and/or is present as a section of the outermost layer of the packaging foil forming a sealing layer, which surrounds the functional layer section. The part by weight of the particle in the functional layer is 1-10 wt.%. A part such as 50% of the particle forms a part of the outer layer (5) of the functional layer. The average thickness of the functional layer is lesser than the medium value of the average diameter including 1-20 mu m of the particle. The ratio of the average thickness of the functional layer and the median value of the average diameter of the particle is less than 0.5. The functional layer is formed from a particle comprising lacquer or a foil film comprising the silver-containing particle. The functional layer is applied by printing, coating, brushing, painting, spraying, pouring or coextruding on the substrate. The substrate comprises or is formed as a barrier layer that is active against oxygen, carbon dioxide and/or water. The substrate and/or functional layer is/are structured. Independent claims are included for (1) a package for packaging goods such as food, pharmaceutical products or cosmetics, comprising a packaging foil; and (2) packaging goods-packaging unit comprising the package.
