Disclosed is a method for investigating the composition, the flow properties and the viscosity of heterogeneous liquid substances, particularly at high temperatures of 1000°C and more. The aim of the invention is to provide a solution by which the flow behavior of heterogeneous melts can be determined as well as a chemical, mineralogical analysis of the slags in conjunction e.g. with the flow behavior. Said aim is achieved in that the substance that is to to be analyzed, e.g. liquid slags, is guided from a measurement vessel that is heated in a high-temperature furnace (2) via an outlet nozzle (8) with known geometric data onto a moving surface (10a) coupled to an electronic scale, wherein the weight and the flow time of the leaving substance are measured, the volume is calculated based on the weight and the density of the substance and the flow property of the substance is then determined on the basis of the measurement results which are obtained. Also, the respective composition of the substance is determined by removing samples at different locations of the track of the substance.
