Disclosed is a method and a device for investigating the flow properties and the viscosity of liquid substances, particularly at high temperatures of 1000°C and more. The aim of the invention is to provide a solution that satisfies the difficult measurement conditions during measurements of slags of high temperatures. Said aim is achieved according to the method in that the substance that is to be analyzed, e.g. liquid slags, is guided from a measurement vessel that is heated in a high-temperature furnace via an outlet nozzle with known geometric data into a collecting vessel coupled to an electronic scale, wherein the weight and the flow time of the leaving substance are measured, the volume is calculated based on the weight and the density of the substance and the flow property of the substance is determined on the basis of the measurement results which are obtained.
