The subject matter of the invention is a method for surveying a production plant (13) having production facilities (19a, 19b, 19c, 19d). The invention provides for the survey to be performed by means of an aircraft (12), which to this end is equipped with a sensor (14), for example a digital camera. This advantageously allows the survey to be performed from a birds eye perspective, which allows an effective planning process, and, in particular, effective input of the space-related data into a planning program. In this case, use may advantageously also be made of existing planning data, which can be corrected if the aircraft establishes deviations from the original planning data. Furthermore, the invention proposes that the physical circumstances of the production plant (13) be visually displayed by taking digital images with a camera and importing them into a virtual environment. This allows a visual impression of the production plant to be conveyed without having to visit in person.
