Provided is a method for growing an organic single crystal thin film such as an organic semiconductor single crystal thin film, said method allowing the control of the position, size, crystal orientation, etc. of the organic single crystal thin film. An organic semiconductor single crystal thin film comprising an organic compound is grown by: supplying an unsaturated organic solution that has been prepared by dissolving the organic compound in a solvent to a growth control area (P1) and a nucleation control area (P2) of a substrate (11), said substrate having, in a principal plane thereof, the growth control area and at least one nucleation control area that is formed on one side of the growth control area and connected to the growth control area; and then evaporating the solvent of the organic solution.
