The karabiner (10) has a finger barrier (40) arranged between a handle portion (36) and an inner region (24) of the karabiner, in the open position of the karabiner. The handle portion for the finger of a user is provided in a locking lever (16). An opening of a main bracket (12) is closed by the locking lever in a closed position. The finger barrier is fixedly connected to the handle portion. The handle portion is designed for the installation of two, particularly three adjacent fingers of the user. The finger barrier arranged at the main bracket is formed by a projection.
