The present invention relates to a technology for reducing the learning curve of a game by allowing a new user to become easily accustomed to modified words such as abbreviated words which existing users use in the game. According to one embodiment of the present invention, the method for providing word information on an online game includes the following steps, performed by a server providing the word information on the online game: extracting, from a posted-article database which stores posted articles preregistered by users, information on the posted articles preregistered by the users; searching for modified words, which are words remaining by excluding original words from among one or more series of words included in the preregistered posted articles, wherein the original words are defined for use in the game and stored in an original-word database; matching the modified words with the original words; storing matching information including the original words and the matched modified words to a modified-word database which stores the matching information; and providing the matching information to a user terminal.
