PURPOSE: An ontology based optimal route searching device and a method thereof are provided to form an optimal route of a vehicle and to reduce time required for reaching destination. CONSTITUTION: An optimal route searching device comprises an event control unit(110), a situation monitoring unit(120), and a route searching unit(130). The event control unit confirms the information of the vehicle according to the occurrence of events with respect to the optimal route search. The situation monitoring unit updates the information related to a road condition caused by the event. The route searching unit performs ontology based inference on a basis of the information of the vehicle and the road condition and generates the information of the optimal route through a route analysis.
