PURPOSE: A food composition and a pharmaceutical composition are provided to improve an intestinal function, and to alleviating constipation by inducing intestine activation in experimental animals and indicating an excellent improvement effect on mucous secretion in the intestines. CONSTITUTION: A food composition includes a rice fermentation extract. The rice fermentation extract is manufactured from the following steps: Rice is mixed with water, soaked, and heated to be gelatinized. 0.05-10 weight% of rice wine starter is added to the gelatinized rice, and saccharified at 20-40 deg.C for 10-30 hours. The saccharified product is fermented at 15-40 deg.C for 1-10 days. The fermented product is sterilized and concentrated. The rice fermentation extract comprises 0-10 weight% of moisture, 0-3 weight% of ash, 60-95 weight% of carbohydrates, 5-30 weight% of saccharides, 0-10 weight% of crude protein, 0-0.1 weight% of crude fat, 0-0.1 weight% of saturated fat, 0-0.1 weight% of trans-fat, 0-0.1mg/100g of cholesterol, and 0-500mg/100g of sodium.
