PURPOSE: A parking assistant system and a method thereof are provided to prevent problems in a system shutdown and a sensing information initialization which are caused by a driver's accelerator pedaling mistake.;CONSTITUTION: A parking assistant system(80) comprises an information generation unit(810) and a speed control unit(820). The information generation unit confirms the operation state of a parking switch, and generates the state information corresponding to the operation state. The speed control unit limits a vehicle speed, which is operated by an accelerator pedal, under the speed limit of a predetermined parking assistant mode when the state in which the parking switch is turned on is confirmed. The information generation unit is an ECU of the parking assistant system which assists with a car parking in case the parking switch is turned on.
