PURPOSE: A manufacturing method of yttrium oxide powder and yttrium oxide powder manufactured by the same are provided to control the shape and size of yttrium oxide powder by differently setting the pH value of a reactive solution, the ratio of a solvent, and the temperature of a reaction in a solvothermal synthesis method. CONSTITUTION: A manufacturing method of yttrium oxide powder includes the following steps of: manufacturing an yttrium salt solution in which the precursor material of yttrium oxide is dissolved; impregnating the precursor material of yttrium oxide in the yttrium salt solution by adding a precipitation agent; dispersing the precipitated precursor material of yttrium oxide in the mixed solution of water and ethylene glycol, and manufacturing a colloidal mixture; and thermally treating the colloidal mixture at the temperature of 200 to 350C, and obtaining yttria powder; thermally treating the yttria powder at the temperature of 500 to 800C. The pH of the solution, in which the precursor material of yttrium oxide is dissolved, is in a range between 5 and 10. The mixed solution of the water and ethylene glycol includes water and ethylene glycol at the volume ratio of 10:1 to 1:10. The precipitation agent is one or the mixture ammonium hydroxide(NH4OH), potassium hydroxide(KOH), and sodium hydroxide(NaOH). The concentration of the yttrium salt solution is in a range between 0.01 and 1.0M.
