PURPOSE: A device and a method for detecting defects of strips are provided to improve a quality of produced hot-rolled coil by sorting faulty strips.;CONSTITUTION: A device for detecting defects of strips includes a pinch roll (50), a cylinder (100), a pressure measuring unit (200), and a read-out unit (300). The pinch roll is arranged between a rolling roll and a coiling reel and applies tension to the strips while the strips coiled around the coiling reel are penetrated through the pinch roll. The cylinder provides a rolling force to the pinch roll. The pressure measuring unit measures the pressure generated in the cylinder. The read-out unit determines the pressure measured by the pressure measuring unit, thereby determining whether the strips are faulty or not.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2013
