The present invention relates to an indexable cutting insert for machining a chip removal tool, which is protruding from a center core (20) and comprises multiple cutting tips (21) containing cutting edges (25) formed on a transition part between a top side, where is used as a chip surface (26), and a flank surface (33) extended from the top side to a bottom side. According to the present invention, the cutting insert comprises: six cutting tips (21a, 21b, 21c, 21d, 21e, 21f) uniformly long which are located along the axes (X, Y, Z) of the coordinate of a three-dimensional orthogonal system by pair, and the origin of the orthogonal system is located on the core (20). Thereby, the cutting insert is able to be installed in a tool basic body having a portion gradually narrowed because the inactive cutting tips located in the back of the active cutting tips are received in a limited volume. In addition, the present invention relates to a tool having the cutting insert according to the present invention and the tool basic body.
