PURPOSE: A method for generating hydrogen based on ammonia borane is provided to improve the yield and the capacity of metal nano-particles based on a single compound-based single reaction by using glyme. CONSTITUTION: A method for generating hydrogen includes the following: a metal nano-catalyst is manufactured by adding and metal precursor into glyme and stirring the metal precursor and the glyme; and the metal nano-catalyst is added into a solution containing an ammonia borane-based compound. The metal precursor is one or more selected from a group including chloride, acetate, acetyl acetonate, ethyl hexanonate, dialkyl isocarbamate, carboxylic acid, carboxylate, pyridine, diamine, arsines, diarsines, phosphines, diphosphines, arenes, metal oxide, carbonyl, carbonate, hydrate, hydroxide, nitrate, and oxalate. The glyme is one or more selected from a group including monoglyme, diglyme, triglyme, tetraglyme, pentaglyme, hexaglyme, heptaglyme, octaglyme, and polyglyme.
