PURPOSE: A photo-catalyst based on the composite structure of a tin oxide with a titanium dioxide and metal ions and a method for preparing the same are provided to expand the application range of the photo-catalyst from ultraviolet ray range to a visible ray range and to improve the efficiency of the photo-catalyst. CONSTITUTION: A method for preparing a photo-catalyst based on the composite structure of a tin oxide with a titanium dioxide and metal ions includes the following: A tin tetrachloride hydrate solution(SnCl_45H_2O) and metal chloride powder are added in an alcohol solvent to be stirred and thermally treated. Metal added tin oxide(M-Sn-O_2) powder is prepared. An acid solution is added into the alcohol solvent to be stirred. A titanium alkoxide is additionally added into the stirred solution and is stirred to obtain a titanium dioxide sol-gel solution. The metal added-tin oxide powder is added into the sol-gel solution and is stirred and dried to eliminate the solvent. A plasticizing process is followed.
