LANE RECOGNITION DEVICE USING A REVERSE DIRECTION CAMERA, CAPABLE OF PREVENTING UNAWARENESS OF LANE BY COUNTERLIGHT

PURPOSE: A lane recognition device using a reverse direction camera is provided to gain solid images unaffected by counterlight by using a reverse direction camera considering the sunlight direction for taking a picture, thereby performing highly enhanced lane recognition and improving the performance of an intelligent image recognition device for a vehicle.;CONSTITUTION: A road lane recognition device using a reverse direction camera comprises a front camera(12), a rear camera(14), and an image processing unit(26). The front camera installed in the front of a vehicle(10) takes a picture of the front of the vehicle. The rear camera installed in the back of the vehicle takes a picture of the rear of the vehicle. The image processing unit processes the recognition of lanes from the images which are not taken against the light among the images taken by the front camera and the rear camera. The image processing unit determines that an image is taken against the light when the quotient of a lightness value of the image divided by the product of an exposure value of the camera sensor and a gain value is beyond a threshold value. If the image is determined to be taken against the light, a threshold value for the images taken by the front camera and a threshold value for the images taken by the rear camera are set differently.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2013
