PURPOSE: User recognition method and device thereof using a pressure sensor and a footwear footprint image are provided to perform user recognition while a user naturally walking by recognizing a user based on a footwear footprint image. CONSTITUTION: A footwear footprint generation unit (110) receives a footwear footprint pressure image and generates a footwear footprint image. A user recognition unit (120) calculates similarity or dissimilarity with a reference image based on the footwear footprint image and recognizes a user. The similarity or the dissimilarity is similarity or dissimilarity with a footwear footprint reference image of the footwear footprint image and with a bare foot footprint reference image of a calculated footwear footprint image using a footprint weighting factor. The footprint weighting factor is calculated using a critical value according to a barefoot footprint reference image of the user.
