PURPOSE: A license production method in an electronic book copyright protection system, a management method, and an electronic book reading device are provided to support an initial distribution business model and a period service model for electronic book content by constructing right information files including a condition precedent and an alternative condition. CONSTITUTION: A condition precedent processing unit(710) confirms the validity of the rights information and searches the rights information of a condition precedent. When the rights information is not existed in the condition precedent, a basic use condition processing unit(720) confirms the validity of initial right information of the basic usage condition. The right information of the condition precedent or the initial right information is not valid, an alternative condition processing unit(730) confirms the validity and the right information of the alternative condition. When the rights information included in the condition precedent and the alternative condition is existed inside a device, an inner rights information loading unit(740) loads the rights information. A rights information processing unit(780) allows a user to read the electronic book according to the confirmed valid rights information.
