FIELD: chemistry.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to low emissivity coatings. The low emissivity coating includes, in order outward from the substrate, a first dielectric layer; a first catalysing layer; a first silver layer; a first absorbing protective layer containing nickel oxide and chromium oxide and 15-60 at % oxygen; a second dielectric layer; a second catalysing layer; second silver layer; a second absorbing protective layer; a third dielectric layer; and optionally, a top coating layer.
