The instrument (1) has a beam forming element (11) producing homogenous beam intensity and made of a micro optic array (10). The micro optic array is integrated in a form of a microlens array in an optical path (7) between a radiation source (8) and an aperture at a transmitter end. The microlens array is reflectively integrated in the form of a micromirror array in the optical path of the instrument and is made of uniform lenses. A converging lens is used between the beam forming element and the aperture and images radiation distribution of the beam forming element. An independent claim is also included for a method for calibrating an optical instrument.
