The method involves filling a tracer fluid (6) in the component (3) to be tested, where the tracer fluid is a mixture which contains a hydraulic fluid and nitrous oxide. The component is sealed by the tracer fluid. The pressure of the tracer fluid is increased to a required test pressure within the sealed component. The content of nitrous oxide of the tracer fluid, exiting in the sealed component, is detected. The tracer fluid is removed from the tested component.
