The lift (1) has intermediate landings (107, 115) that are arranged at an outer wall (106) of a building (101), where the lift is arranged with a lift shaft (2) and a set of shaft door openings (4). The door openings are arranged at height of floor levels (105) of upper floors (104) of the building. A lift staircase (3) is arranged between the outer wall and the lift shaft. A set of staircase run units (7) extends from an intermediate stair platform of a building staircase (102) to the floor level of the upper floors. An independent claim is also included for a method for constructing a lift installation.
