The permanent-magnet synchronous motor has a rotor (3) with several permanent magnets. A stator (1) with several stator coils (2) is provided to exert the rotating force on rotor by moving magnetic field. The magnetic sensors (5,6) are arranged for measuring the magnetic field of the permanent magnets (4). An evaluation unit is configured to evaluate the measurement signals from the sensors so as to determine the status parameters such as rotor position, rotor speed and rotation direction. An independent claim is included for a method for obtaining status information of permanent- magnet synchronous motor.
